Ronan loves bath time. He screams when we take him out and doesn't forgive us for at least a couple minutes. We thought--hey, he'd probably love pools.

So, we tried the Dunlora pool (outdoor) on Friday. I don't know if it was the bright sun, the rash guard, the hat I made him wear, or the cool pool water, but he screamed. And screamed. And did not like the experience one bit. It took me quite awhile to calm him down, get him out of the wet swim diaper, calm him down, feed him, get him into a clean diaper, etc. C, who'd invited me, was glad that she'd not tried to bring her little girl (S) into the pool. S is six weeks older than R, but about the same weight and not as chunky. She gets cold easily.

Today, Tom and I decided we'd try out the warm water pool at the downtown ACAC facility. We got R into his swim diaper(s) (I layer two, hoping that they'll both work in concert to hold in any poo) and then I slowly eased into the warm water.

He loved it. He spent a good 15-20 minutes floating and zooming with us. Tom held him while I spent a few minutes in the hot tub, then I played with him while Tom enjoyed the pool some more. A gigantic barf went onto his belly and I quickly climbed out, keeping all the foamy half-digested milk on his belly until we got to the shower. He enjoyed the shower, too! He did *not* like being changed out of his swim diaper, but I cuddled and held him and eventually got him changed into a dry diaper and kimono. I then held him til he fell asleep.

He's been in a great mood since, albeit sleepy. He'll wake up for awhile, eat, coo, play with some toys, then fall back asleep. Happy little baby.

I think the mommy & me water class will be fun. :)
