I finally got up the nerve to cut and file Ronan's fingernails. It wasn't so bad. His toes are still pretty raptor-vicious and those scare me more, because he doesn't have the same primate gripping instinct in his feet that makes it easy to keep his hands steady. His feet are prone to kicking . . .

Anyhow, I won't need to keep mitts on him constantly now that he's less likely to gouge out his eyes and my nipples. The socks will stay.

I have no idea what he weighs or measures now, but he's certainly grown. He's filling out the newborn clothing now and no longer swimming so badly in the 0-3mo clothing.

You want the antique baby scale? I will throw it in. If I want to paint it, what do I need to look for in paint?

Love, Mom

Does it need painting? As long as it's painted before you come out, it won't bother me.

Teeth.

Seriously. My mother used to cut my finger/toe nails and my sister's by biting them off.

So I've been told by other mom's but I've got a serious squick about the sound and *feel* of nails biting teeth. I can't even bite my own any more.

The nurses in the NICU told me to just bite S.'s nails when I asked what to do about his little dagger-nails. I did bite them off there, but once we were home I started clipping them very regularly. Baby nails grow like weeds and they can do some serious damage!

I was always terrified to cut sean's nails. My mother actually told me to bite them off, and it worked remarkably well, oddly enough.

I remember that with my sons. Everyone told me to bite them too but I was scared they would tear or something. I remember oldest son getting scratches on his face where he could pinch on his face.
I love the pics and you seem such a natural mother hon.

Before she was old enough to cooperate, I did Kyra's while she was asleep. She rarely even stirred, and it kept me from being terrified of accidentally getting a toe.
