We need to run to Lowe's to pick up a few things I didn't think about for the wallpaper border. Marking has been done, though, so we're pretty much ready to run with the thing.

[livejournal.com profile] jericho_the_dog has been brushed and bathed. Kitchen has been conquered. Squirrel is thoroughly intimidated and missing at least one claw and some fur. It now leaps from the feeder if a shadow so much as passes behind our blinds.

I woke up at 8am with a sinus headache and TMD migraine. I had to have boy open the tylenol bottle for me. I came out and curled up on the couch. I was able to sleep again from 9:15-10:30, so I'm not too poorly now. The poodle kept my feet warm, which was really nice of him. Once the rain turned to a thunderstorm, I felt better. I felt even better after boy got up and made us breakfast. I had raspberry kefir and half a turkey ham & cheese omelet. Yum.

Our to-do list for the next day or so includes the following:
put up border
clean floor in second room (just needs vinegar & water)
• assemble furniture
wash and put away diapers
wash and put away baby clothes
• move short dresser and dollhouse into second room

So, out of curiousity, how long after birth until you know if the babe has celiac or shares your or your hubby's allergies? And how can you find that out without exposing the babe to unnecessary hardships during testing?

Specific allergies aren't inherited. We expect the kid will have atopy, since I'm severely atopic and boy is moderately so. I expect allergies and/or asthma to start manifesting anytime from infancy onward. My asthma didn't develop until I was in my twenties (technically diagnosed as occupational). Boy's developed when he was a toddler, all of a sudden.

As for CD, time will tell. I might opt for genetic or enterolab at some point, though those aren't truly diagnostic. Our home is gluten-free (save for boy's oatmeal) and will remain so.

Since we have a history of food allergies, we'll opt for delayed introduction of the biggies. Egg and dairy at one year, peanuts at three, etc. Anything I'm allergic to won't be introduced until the urchin is nearly school age, unless zie is staying with my parents or inlaws at some point prior to that. Nothing I'm allergic to will be introduced to the urchin so long as I'm still breastfeeding (something I'd like to do for at least a couple years).

I don't expect the kid to stay soy-free and wheat-free outside of the home once zie is old enough to wash up properly. My home (and vehicles) will remain my safe zone, however, since a living, breathing mom is better than one who keels over from anaphylactic shock.
