I've registered the car seat, extra base, and stroller with Graco, so I should be covered in case of product recalls. I need to see if [livejournal.com profile] bedbugsbite needs more boxes--I have two more large ones. I also have some Similac I'm going to drop off at either the animal shelter or a food bank. I emailed the Albemarle FD about scheduling another car seat install now that we have the extra base--it'll be nice to have the option of taking the Buick or the Crown Vic without switching bases and worrying if I have a proper install.

Today's to-do list:
find coffee
go to lowe's and grab some paint sticks
cut our measuring stick to 36" with the box mitre, mark for border bottom edge
screw in receptacle covers and window hardware
buy another tiny paintbrush from Michael's
get the rest of the supplies for making birth announcements

I don't think that's too much. We'll see. I tire easily, but it's probably just a combination of low iron and being rather pregnant.

I'm not climbing up on the stepladder without boy in there to keep an eye on me. I'm not that dizzy, but the climbing down is sometimes hairy. The trim will be done tomorrow, the floors on Sunday. And then that room is DONE and proper nesting may commence.

We have a new power adaptor for the iBook. It seems the power port is still damaged/loose from the old one, so a box is en route from Apple.

Our Comcast connection is still sucktastic. We're seriously contemplating making the switch to DSL. We were worried about lag time with the VPN, but boy has been dialing in, so it can't really be any worse than dial-up. We need to find someone to run the phone lines, since I can't do it in my current state and boy is hesitant to commune with the cave crickets. I want them run properly and I want extra jacks put in, so we might just call Embarq and see what the fees are like--I assume they still to line installations. They don't list this information on their poorly organized website.

I've been trying to hold out for the new lines/equipment with Comcast, but I'm sick of paying for constantly bouncy connectivity and syncing failures several times a day, followed by a failure to obtain an IP address.

Does having a base installed take that seat out of commission otherwise? For instance, if you've got the car seat in the Buick, and Boy wants to use the Crown Vic to go pick up a passel of chicks to take back to his secret pad, will there be enough room for them, with the base in the car?

It would remove one seat space, yes. In the crown vic, this really isn't an issue, as it's a gigantic tank of doom.

We *could* install the base ourselves, I just like knowing that someone trained in doing so has done it. I'm sure we'll become less neurotic as time goes on. For the initial install, I like to see exactly what it should look like and feel like. I can replicate that myself, but I want to know that a pro did it the first time.

I guess at least one of those chicks will just have to sit in my lap while I drive ;)

Yeah, it's totally legal to have adults in your lap while driving. You only get in trouble for doing that with minors.

You know, every time I'm reminded that you're near Charlottesvile, I wish that in the days I was there we'd managed to get together. Hubby and I spent about 3 or 5 months with friends there a few years ago - 2002, I think.

Alas, however, I was no longer on IRC and I hadn't discovered you were on here at that point. :)

I wasn't on IRC a whole heck of a lot, either, and we'd just moved here in April of 2002. Did you ever go to the Dawning? After I recovered from my surgeries, I went out fairly frequently.

Nah, I didn't go out much. We went to downtown C-ville a few times, and to various craft stores and book stores, but that's about it.

Looking back, trying to find out when I was there, it included October 2002 at least. I left before it snowed, and I *think* I was back here in November for Thanksgiving.

Given the mood icon theme, I'm sure you know where I'm coming from when I express the frustration that sets in each Sunday as Comcast + uTorrent + Series 3 makes me re-set the cable modem for the sixth time. So no, it's not just you.

I haven't been able to torrent decently at all since the switchover. I gave up on missing shows.

Which modem do you have? How old is it? I've thought about replacing our Surfboard 4200 (bought ca. 2003), on the offchance that it might be modem error/incompatibility, but I really think the problem is with their end, not ours.
