Well, we *were* going to go hiking today. It's gorgeous out. Then the neighbor came over, offering us wood. We'd like to have a few campfires this summer, so boy went over to split wood. I did some minor yardwork (neatening up some stuff) and I've done some minor household chores. I think I might check on boy soon . . . after, I might go get a coffee if it looks like we can still hike--pre-emptive caffeination should keep the asthma controllable. If it doesn't look like hiking will happen, I'll grab gloves and see what other yard stuff I can do. Lots of sticks need picking up, but bending over is not pleasant right now. I can do it, I just get a lot of ligament and groin pain when I try and after the first few squats or bends, I'll start getting braxton hicks.

In other news, I need to talk to my dad, who will likely tell me to (a) call a plumber or washer repairman and (b) call my mechanic.

The washing machine doesn't always spin out. It usually does, but not always. I can manually set it to spin and it will. That's what we've done since Thanksgiving. It agitates just fine. Over the last two days, however, I've been attempting to wash a load of towels. Now, I never put in the required amount of detergent, so even if I were to double-up, I'd be putting in less than recommended. There are suds which just won't quit in there. It *will* spin out (half the time), but there are SUDS. And I mean, MAJOR suds. It's been through two or three full wash cycles and at least a dozen rinse cycles now. The only time detergent was added was on the first wash. I've used vinegar in most of the rinses. And there are still suds. The plumbing doesn't appear to be backing up. I have no clue what's going on.

The Buick is making a weird noise. I call it a jingling, boy calls it's a squeal. Seems to be on the passenger side, but I can't figure out if it's the wheels/tires or something else. It sounds kinda like an old tape deck that doesn't automatically turn off. When you're rewinding a tape, the spindles hit the end and keep spinning and whining and squealing. That's what it sounds like. Sound goes away when brakes are applied, returns when one is underway.

We've started clearing out the second room. Well, boy did most of it, since it's all lifting and books. We bought a lead test kit last night, so I'll have him sand down some trim later and test the dust. If there's lead, he'll have to do all the sanding and I'll need to buy him a better respirator. If there's not, I can help and we can just use dust masks.

If we don't hike today, we'll have to bathe the poodle. If we *do* hike, he'll get his bath tomorrow. No options there. His stinklines are visible.

G says you need to cal an appliance service repairman, not a standard plumber. Your dad will probably be right on that call. Call one who has experience in that make of washer and hopefully has parts for your model on the truck. Its your best bet. G read the description and said there is no obvious "plumbing" issue.

Good luck!

Washer: Sounds like the timer module. Not shifting into the different modes. Need an applicance repairperson. He said you might try starting it on a different wash cycle to see if that will trigger it to work.

Car: Could be the squealer on the brake pads telling you that the pads are getting thin. Or it could be a wheel bearing. The wheel bearing thing would not be hard to fix, provided you don't wait until the bearing chews up the spindle.

Love, Mom

It fails to spin out about half the time, no matter which wash cycle it's on. I'll call Sears and see who they use for Kenmore.

We haven't driven the Buick since we noticed the sound. It doesn't sound like the warning strip on the brakes--I know that sound and take it in as soon as I hear it. I'm guessing wheel bearing. I'll call Finley's this week.

Thanks!

не фига не понял, но круто=)
