sleepy + coffee = bliss
Feb. 24th, 2007 06:55 pmCrockpot dinner:
one cup himalayan rice blend, two frozen chicken thighs (goddess bless Trader Joe), four cups water, a couple shallots, some garlic, a ceylon cinnamon stick, a lemon, dried apples, raisins, a couple cardamom pods, pine nuts, salt, pepper. Cooked on low from 11:30-6:30, when we came home. Could probably cook an hour less, but is still good.
We went to see the MetOpera HD Simulcast of Евгений Онегин. I really liked this production. Don't tell anyone, but Pushkin made me cry.
Actually, I think Tchaikovsky bears the blame/credit for that.
(I won't blame the tears on the constant scar tissue pain or the guy back behind me who kept kicking me in the head.)
Anyhow, the production was really cool. The singing was great, the costumes were nifty, the bare bones minimalism of the set was quite evocative (boy says they wanted the steppes, but it reminded me of the staging of every Chekhov play I've ever seen).
Boy's being all cuddly while we read articles about Dmitri Hvorostovsky. I think boy is enamored by platinum blond baritones . . . or maybe just my chicken.
explodingcat: "mmmm, chicken."
