I frequently see this face looking at me when I'm sprawled out on the floor. I can never get the picture to turn out--there's always too much glare or too little light. But it's adorable and sweet and my heart always melts.
(three tricks to try: check to see if your camera has a backlight filter in its mode selections. failing that, most cameras that cost more than $50 have a feature that let you lock exposure on a point other than your subject before you take the picture - if so, lock exposure on, say, the floor, then take the shot. failing that as well, check to see if you have a spot metering mode - that'll set the exposure based on jerry himself rather than on the whole scene, since it analyzes only the dead center of the composition for exposure metering.)
Our black dog has matte black straight fur. She becomes a shadow.
Our best photos have been in some sort of light, like what J's in now (and he's in nice light, and that's a gorgeous shot, so much like DJ's face) but with fill-flash.
