It's been a somewhat busy, somewhat quiet week. In between errands and taking care of
nannar, we've been resting. I attempted to pick up some sticks in the yard today and realized (a) sciatica says NO; (b) there are a lot of branches; and (c) holy crap, that's one BIG branch, surrounded by several BIG branches. (It's really too much to heave over the fence into the ravine (time-honored practice with brush--we like to encourage snakes). I think we need a bulk pick-up, though I hate to pay for the city to come and take my wood to the woodchipper. *sigh* Maybe there's a drop-off at the Rivanna composting facility out at the dump. Maybe I can *not* have to pay for it. ;)
Anyhow, we ran several errands today. The city market and veg festival occupied our morning. I scritched lots of adoptable doggies at the various rescue booths. We bought peppers and gluten-free angelfood cake and greens. We saw the military history encampment and will probably visit that tomorrow.
We ran other errands, the type that required driving up 29N. I really hate being so car dependent, but this town is sprawling a bit. We actually went out twice--once for foodstuffs, once to buy some houseshoes (crocs) for boy. I was too tired to brave the mall the first time around. The crocs will be an experiment. Boy has changed his workstation to a standing configuration. We have hardwood floors, so he needs more cushioning. I'll probably have to buy a decent mat for him at some point, too.
Tonight's dinner was utterly indulgent . . . nachos with freshly made tortilla chips . . . and fried stuffed squash blossoms. I also stuffed a corncake with cheese, but it was too dry for me. Boy ate it. I think he also had some bbq chicken. I made a kickass sauce last week: a heapin' heap of apricot preserves, a spoonful of minced ginger, a heapin' spoonful of chili paste, one small can chipotle sauce. It's good with garlic, too. It would be good on barbecued carrots, I think.

mmmm, sweet potatoes.
