We went up to Monticello today. We'd not been, despite living here for over four years, so it was time.

We really enjoyed all three tours. I especially liked the garden tour.

[Tom just walked up to me. He's got the soundtrack from Eyes Wide Shut playing. He's flossing his teeth. "Listening to this music. . . . makes me feel like I'm going to find something I never wanted to see . . . between my teeth."]

Anyhow, we bought some seeds and some chocolate (mmmm, oh beloved Colonial times, free of the taint of soy lecithin). We walked down the hill to the parking lot, bought more seeds, ascertained that they never sell lovage seedlings, and came back home. I made lobio to eat with our leftovers. It was a good evening. If I buy a couple cloches (glass), I can grow some lettuce well into winter. I got some nice hardy salad greens.

My allergies have been horrendous since coming home. I'd enjoy a few days of rain. I showered early and fled to the bedroom, which is relatively safe and free of everything but dust. I'll try to remember to wash the bedding tomorrow. I've sat in here reading most of the evening, joined by boy for awhile. He abandoned the laptop to me while he set off for his evening shower.

Hrm . . . I should see if any of my favorite nurseries sell lovage. It's so yummy.

lovage is tasty. It's like celery leaf for grownups.

Awesome that you got to Monticello. It's at the top of my list for Charlottesville attractions, when I ever get back down there to see you guys. I plan to be back in the Baltimore area next Fall; maybe sometime when school's out... so glad you guys are healthy and having a good time. I think of Tom every time I read a quote or story by Neil Gaiman (like 1602, which I very much enjoyed); Tom is as brilliant, if not more, than that guy. Best!
