rootofnewtYay! I found walking shoes. They were the first ones I tried on. And they're not one of those icky pair of white. Granted, they look like black walking shoes, but that's because they are. My feet seem happy so far. I'll walk on the treadmill tonight and see how they feel.

mustelidmania today. I did my hydrotherapy and swam 125 yards, in addition to just playing around. I think we were in the water for close to an hour, though maybe less. I stayed in until my left arch stopped feeling as though I'd added an icepick mod. That's what comes of walking for half an hour on a treadmill while wearing hiking shoes (a few days ago).
I often wear my contacts when going to the pool. I need to remember to take them out soon--I don't want another amoebic eye infection. Anyhow, my eyes are so dry these days. I stopped wearing contacts on a daily basis a year or two ago. It sort of happened gradually. My eyes are just extremely dry. The optometrist blames it on aging. I can't use any lubricating drops and almost all eye drops contain preservatives I'm allergic to. Sterile saline ampules last all of a couple minutes, then my burning and stinging starts. I'm not allergic to the polymer, I'm just dry.
Anyhow, that's not what this is about. I just miss having peripheral vision. WoohoO! I can see!
In other news, the next appliance I want is a food dehydrator. I picked up an awesome camp cookbook at a visitor center on the parkway last week. The recipes are really promising--I know I'd like many of them fresh, so I'm eager to see how they handle dehydration and rehydration.

Date: 2006-08-09 11:24 pm (UTC)AccuView has some new ones that are more gas-permeable, and I've noticed that they definitely dry my eyes out less (I'm wearing them for two weeks and chucking them). I have the same problem, but I can of course use rewetting drops. I don't need them as much with these new ones, though. Might be worth trying--you might not be able to do daily wear, but might make occasional wear easier.
