When I left Starbucks the power was flickering. About a quarter to half the town appears to be out of power, if dim houses and dark traffic lights and street lights are any connsideration. Our power is flickering, so my net connection is sporadic.

The traffic's not that bad and the roads aren't bad, either. There are a few idiot drivers, of course. I was miffed to discover that Whole Foods closed at noon due to inclement weather. The other grocery stores were deserted. Even Walmart and Sam's looked empty.

I'm sure the roads will slicken up as night falls. But it's just a piddly measly icy wintry mix ice storm.

My shoes soaked through walking in slush, so I stopped and bought some boots. I'm now of an age where cold, wet feet hurt like the dickens. Something about those broken bones and the lack of fat, I guess.

Tomorrow, I'll cozy up on the couch with a cuppa tea and watch the folks who live down the hill try to make it up. That's always good for a laugh.

Of course since I left, this will be the year when y'all are dealing with wintery weather on a weekly basis after years of virtually no winter at all. You see, I am the all powerful weather goddess in reverse.

I, too, enjoyed watching the fools and laughing at their folly. Weather goddesses are mean like that.

I used to work in a town built into a very steep hill, and a lot of the older roads had handrails cut into the buildings along the pavements. Winter was great, if you slipped at the top of the street you wouldn't stop until you reached the river half a mile away. :)

I've been in towns like that. I always tread carefully in Harper's Ferry.
