So, my low coolant light has been blinking on and off. The car isn't running hot, the coolant levels aren't low at all, nothing is leaking. Dad suggested it might be he thermostat, but I think it might be the low coolant sensor. Googling on the Buick forums has shown this is a typical issue, especially on older Regals.

I'm just trying to decide if this is a repair I should attempt to do myself, or if I should pay the mechanic to do it when I take the car in for an inspection check on Friday. I think the car needs new front brake pads, too, I'm pretty sure I heard the warning strip squealing the other day.

You could just do like your dad said but take the temp guage out and start the car up and drive it. It wont hurt anything and might save you some cash...
