rootofnewt: (car)

There is one main reason I want a driveway. Sure, I can think of many reason. It would be nice to not be barricaded by a wall of ice when the snow plows come through, it would be nice to be able to throw open the doors without worrying about cars, it would be nice to not worry about neighbors (or their childrens' friends) backing into my car/sideswiping/clipping the bumper. It would be lovely to not worry about finding a spot, too.

But the real reason I want a driveway? I want to be able to *wash my car* myself.

Anyhow, I've opted for the next best thing to actually washing the car--I'm going to clean it out on the inside--trash, maps, recycleables. . . dustbuster the carpets and seats, collect the spare change, wash all the windows. I'm going to clean the leaves out of the dash, winterize the trunk (involves putting the winter materials in the trunk--shovel, coffee can furnace, etc), and I'm going to wash the exterior of all the windows, too. I'm going to buff the brass conduits for the rear doors and see if that helps the [currently dormant] Autogeist situation.

If I have any energy left, I might also clean under the hood. I'll check fluids and belts, as usual, of course. It would be nice to be able to do so without getting filthy everytime, though.

Farewell, my friends. My car might just eat me.

Our street is just too busy. Plus, I'm not sure if Cville has an ordinance against carwashing in public streets (storm sewer).

Sure, the oil and such from cars is much worse than what I use to wash the car, but some cities are weird.

Also, the traffic. Elliott is very busy.

I do water-only washing, but I can see your point about the traffic.
