Actually, it works really rather well. It's just cooking it slow rather than over heat. It's really nice to come home from being out, and having the slow cooker fill the house with really yummy smells.
We're going to roast a chicken next weekend. We've been into the homemade stock thing, so we will use the carcuss to give us chicken stock for other yummy dishes. We do stock in the crockpot too--it's just easier when you cook something until it dies, add water, and repeat a few times. I've been going through a Paul Produhme (sp?) cookbook, and it's nice to have the stock. He's more of a weekend thing... So much chopping....
