so, how do i know if an incision is getting infected?
the incision was sewn on the inside and glued on the outside. for awhile, it looked fine, with the exception of about a centimeter at one end, which didn't get much glue on it... that bit scabbed over easily, however, and looked fine. i was even able to stop wearing gauze between the scar and my longline bra.
until friday or so. i woke up either thurs or friday and saw that the scab had fallen off... and the scar was raw and icky looking. now, i know healing skin sometimes looks yellowish from the platelets, so i knew it wasn't pus. even so, i put some neosporin on it (not allergic to neosporin ointment).
but it kept hurting... i had to start wearing gauze b/c it keeps bleeding/seeping. a blood blister formed and burst... now it's warm, reddish, and more painful than before. i can't wear gauze at night b/c i don't sleep in a bra and i can't find a non-reactive tape. i bought some of 3m's paper tape, just in case they've changed the formula and made it krassie-safe. i have an inch of it on my inner arm. if i don't react by tonight (at least 12 hours), i'll tape the gauze down.
so i called the doctor. the receptionist took a message *and* scheduled me in for tomorrow.
