busy saturday
Mar. 13th, 2004 03:25 pmI may be itchy and weezy, but the living room is now clean. The floor still needs to be brushed clean and my bookshelf needs to be straightened up and dusted, but I've reached my dust quota for today.
I need to find out if the local Goodwill takes donations. If so--oooh, baby, I've got lots of stuff to drop off. I also tossed a bunch of stuff into various recycling piles for boy to take off to their respective recycling containers.
Tomorrow, we'll attack the dining room. It's not too bad, so we might be able to get a handle on the bedroom, too. If so, the only remaining rooms will be the kitchen (not bad, but the floor needs scrubbing) and the sunroom (not bad, just cluttered and in need of a sweeping). We have a chest of drawers to assemble for the bedroom. This might require moving some things around.
Yay! My house might be all *nice* at once. I still need more storage space, but that's life.
Earlier, we gave herbs to
red_frog's cats. That was delightful, especially Percy's aggrieved expression when he saw Nikita and Austin lolling about. We offered some to him, but he walked away haughtily.
Magi sent me away with some limoncello (no, it's liquid saffron!). Yum. Of course, forgetting that this was from Magi, I tried a sip as I was walking in the door and immediately started sputtering. That was amusing. I think I was in the mood for lemonade and my mind got confused over what I was sipping.
explodingcat and I drove around different neighborhoods today so we could get a feel for what's located where, etc. We'll probably try to buy in a year or so. I really think we'd be happiest in Belmont, provided we can find adequate space and affordable prices.
Boy needs to eat soon. We're going to go see Lost In Translation at the Jefferson tonight (7:15). I want pizza, so we'll probably stop to buy me a slice first.

I did say that it had vodka in it, showed you the next batch of lemon zest flavoring vodka, and noted that I'd already added more vodka since I found the original too sweet. :D I'm glad you like it. There will be more if you'd like to be a guinea pig for the batch wherein I make the simple syrup from the reserved juice instead of water.
Quite a few of my friends live in Belmont. I like the area--very arty and friendly.

Date: 2004-03-14 06:39 am (UTC)i hate seeing for sale adds here in cville. theyre all like
10 minute walk from UVa, 250,000.
very close to downtown, 249,000.
just off campus, 199,000.
like, very cool, im glad its close to the area, but what else does it have to justify that price? people are making a killing on run down POS houses based on how close they are to downtown? thats BS.
this is just an extension of the attitude that stupid white people have around town... thinking theyre in NYC. people pay 2 grand a month of apartments downtown.
i dunno... maybe im jaded. but downtown just isnt *that* cool. you could probably get a nicer apartment that is *actually in NYC* for less money.
can someone please explain to me what the deal is? ive been here for like 15 years. i still dont get it.
well, here ive gone on and ranted and now i cant remember where or why i started.
maybe i should switch to tea for the rest of the day.
