help me.... please....
Dec. 5th, 2003 10:24 amThanks to
quix for providing this little article on how cartoons are like cocaine.
I dont think it would be terribly self-centered of me (okay, it would) to insist that my favorite webcomic authors step up the schedule a little. I'm sick, okay? Stimulating that part of my brain could alleviate some of the pain I'm in. Yes, the laughter will hurt like hell--it already does from just reading two this morning. (I lie, I was in pain BEFORE I read those, but now it's worse)...
Anyhow, yes. I think I need more comics. I need them.

There are other things like I've read over the years, like Writhe and Shine (http://www.writheandshine.com) and several others.

Date: 2003-12-05 08:48 am (UTC)General Protection Fault: Centered on a software development company, but the characters get into fantastic (read: impossible, hard to believe, out of this world) adventures regularly. Well writting and funny too :)
Daily
It's Walky!: Started out as Roomies! but changed names when it left it's college focus to its "gang stopping evil from conquering the world" focus. Also well written and funny.
Daily
College Roomies From Hell!: Almost the same theme as 'It's Walky' except maintaining the college roomie base. Just recently found this one and spent way too many hours catching up. It started in 1999!. Again, well written and funny!
Daily
Sluggy Freelance: If you haven't heard of Sluggy then can't really call yourself a fan of webcomics. Sluggy is positively huge. Fantastic in everyway; great art, great story-line, great humor. It just kicks.
Daily
PvPonline: Centers on a game magazine company with their resident troll. Like Sluggy, it's been around forever. Art style is fantastic, as is the humor, although many have had an issue with the artist's holier-then-thou attitude when it comes to other web-comic artists.
Daily
Scary Go Round: Originally had a strip called 'Bobbins' which died and was reborn as 'Scary Go Round' a definitely more outlandish version but maintaining the same cast. A grasp of british humor is recommended.

Shaw Island: This story line used to be about people on an island with one character who could communicate with the island's indigenous hamsters. Now, it's all about the hamsters. Very cute.
Mon-Fri
Life of Riley: Um.. demons, angels, gamers, geeks, and some that just defy description. Definitely a gamer-oriented comic. Very fun though.
Mon-Fri
Errant Story: The amazing artist of "Exploitation Now" has made a comeback with the PG-13 rated webcomic of magic and fantasy. The comic is still warming up, but it shows a lot of potential.
MWF
Angel Moxie: Grade school girls save the world! Umm.. sorta. This one is really cute. Take Sailor Moon and mix in Garfield style humor and you come close. :) There's even a talking cat!
MWF
MegaTokyo: There's absolutely nothing negative you can say about MegaTokyo, aside from perhaps from the artists penchant for getting behind schedule. The art is fantastic, it's wonderfully well-written, the humor is sometimes subtle, sometimes a sledgehammer. It just rocks.
MWF
RPG World: Ever wonder what it would be like living in an RPG game? Trust me, you never imagined it like this! This story is very funny and well written, but sometimes it goes off on annoying tangents.
MF
Something Positive: This comic is definitely R-rated, but the humor makes you shoot milk out your nose. It's really fantastic, and the art is also very well done. But don't hold your breath for the next comic, the guy is not real reliable. Whenever
Elf Life: This comic used to have a really fantastic story, great art, and was updated regularly, but now the art is sporadically updated, the story is quickly spiralling downhill, and I see more guest artists then the real artists work lately. I may soon remove this one from my list.
Whenever
Everything Jake: I really like this comic/story. The artist mixes artwork and composition for a really well-done story. It is funny, but it's also poignant, and serious, and thoughtful. Lately the artist real life seems to have gotten way overloaded though, because updates have been pretty sparse. But I'm hopeful.
Whenever
there's more!
Date: 2003-12-05 08:50 am (UTC)Get Fuzzy: I think you know about this one (I think you've got a Bucky LJ icon) but I found this one recently and I love it. Take Garfield in it's heyday and ramp it up a notch. Totally hilarious. Syndicated
Daily
FoxTrot: This comic just has something for everyone, whether you're a geek, an overworked college student, a married couple, or all of the above. Great read.
Daily
SinFest: Words escape me. It's a very tongue-in-cheek reflection on the world that we live in. You'll enjoy it and it's possible it might even make you think. . . a little. :)
Mon-Fri
Penny Arcade: R-rated comic. Completely gamer oriented, but the artist's humor is just sharp as a tac. If you play console games at all, you should read this. But if you play them at all, chances are real good that you already know about it and do.
MWF
Mac Hall: College Dorm antics basically. But amazingly drawn, and just clutch your sides funny. :)
