i took a shower.
i wasn't going to do it today. i'm so tired and achy.
but when one's own stench becomes overwhelming to oneself... well... it's shower time... it's soap time. it's shampoo time. it's scrubadubdubtime.
and, while it lasted about five minutes, it was wonderful. i'm clean. i'm no longer stinky. i even took some time to scrub some oil onto some of the adhesive on my arm. i had to leave the dressing on my IV site, since i'm supposed to leave it alone for 24 hours, but it's well covered in gauze and transpore tape.
after my shower, i removed the dressing from the incision/tube sites. made sure it wasn't too icky looking, and redressed it. i need to buy more gauze tomorrow. (andi, if you're not too busy, i'd love a mini excursion to CVS--it's right over by lake forest.)
the nurse practitioner told me i'd probably want to wear my bra--especially a long line. she must not realize that long lines and short torsos don't work. and 3/4 length bras that don't flip up at the waist are super hard to find.
besides, binding bras + menstrual cramps = very unhappy krassie.
since my regular bra hits right at the incision site, i was less than keen on wearing it. so i'm wearing a tube top on bottom... it's under my boob saggage, on top of the incision site. and i have a another stretchy spandexy spaghetti strap top on top of that... and boxer briefs. this is comfy, but boy will be hot when he comes in since i have the heat up to 78. and i STILL have a blankie on hand. i figured it was a decent compromise.
my skin is so dry. i used my own soap at the hospital, but i think water was actually dry water, not real water.
earlier, before my shower, my boob was sticking to my dressing (some drainage had made the gauze sticky, but i was too weary to change it just yet. so i had a paper towel folded and stuck under my boob saggage. so attractive. ;)
i took a three hour nap today. it was nice. (that's why i didn't answer the phone, andi... i couldn't figure out why my alarm was talking... then i realized that the answering machine volume was way up high and you were on... was okay, i needed to get up. i was in desperate need of pain meds.)
after Angel, i'll either go to bed or watch Crossing Jordan... i know, the latter is less than excellent, but it has a neat soundtrack/score.
ahhh... cleanliness.
i'll work on scrubbing the adhesive and yellow crap another day.
and i think it's high time boy learns how to really scrub a tub. i'd like to wallow in a hot bath this week.
now that boy is home with my meds and his organic dead pig, i can relax wand cuddle.
i'll rant about the formulary on my prescription plan later.
and why did i not know that naproxen can cause UV sensitivity? ah. well.
none of that matters right now. i'm clean.
