i can be perfectly lucid (well, as lucid as one gets when doped up on dilaudid), but *awake*.... then i turn on the computer... and start drowsing off.

i teased the nurse, claiming that the EM fields with the laptop intereact with the wireless telemetry loop around my neck, making me tired. she laughed...

anyhow, i was wide awake... now i'm all droopy eyed.

gonna rest some more. i have to retype everything. i sometimes think i've made a keystroke when i have not.

weird.

boy has been taking good care of me. he's sleeping soundly now.

It's good to hear that nothing seems to have gone horribly wrong so far, I hope the rest of your stay goes as well :)

I went to Smoothie King yesterday and saw a bag of soy nuts and thought to myself "My God, just one of those would kill the girl probably"

*huggles*

Hey now...watch out about getting her away from nurses!!!

yes, well, upon request, you usually don't reek of perfume.

i had to gently nudge yet another stinking nurse out of my room today. i let her weigh me in the hallway. she keeps walking by and my door's closed, yet i can smell her coconutty perfumey horror.

i know that some hospitals have no fragrance rules, but don't they teach nurses to NOT wear fragrance? i thought that nursing students were taught that ill patients often has scent aversions... not to mention folks who're on certain pain killers tend to be nauseous and perfume + nausea = krassie vomit on your pretty little birkenstocks (not absie's, general "you" for nurses)....

some are just guilty of hand lotion. i know hospital soaps dry one's skin horribly, but there are frag-free lotions out there (i should know, i'm using one).

hand lotion or not, most of these nurses and clinicians are wearing plain old perfume and are shocked that it could make anyone ill. it's outrageous.

it also irks me that some hospitals and clinics DO have rules against fragrance, but the receptionists flout these all the time. gah.

rant over. ;)

Ugh...I have to agree on the stanky nurse thing.
The lotion the hospital supplies us with (one to be synergistic with the surgical scrub) has a nasty sickly sweet fragrance to it. THe smell of betadine and hibiclens is pretty yuck too.

There are alot of day shift nurses that wear perfume *ack*, but the worst is the ones who go outside to smoke and come back in only to spray themselves silly with perfumes. *gag*cough*puke*. Patients/visitors/staff are all guilty of that one.

BTW, how did you know I wore Birkenstocks at work?!
From: [identity profile] krasota.livejournal.com
yeah, smoke + perfume or lotion is so icky.

now i have to figure out how to get all this yellow shit off. wherever my skin is creased (boobs, armpit, waist, navel), the yellow crap is gunked up and making me break out. if i peel it off, my skin is all raw underneath. one nurse practitioner told me acetone is the only thing that will take it off.

that'll take off my first layer of skin and give me a killer headache, too. i'll just stick with sandpaper.

wooo, i have to take tom to work or metro and then i get to come home, dope myself up, and take a shower.

my hair is so gross.

don't all nurses wear birkenstocks or those slip on clogs with the fabric (hemp or canvas) or rubber tops? ;) comfort, comfort, comfort.

I still like the fact that you've got such a good attitude, it was wonderful to see you smiling . . . and I still think that the drainage bag/tubes would make a great cyber handbag once it's been sterilized ;D

(((enormous hugs on a part of you that hasn't recently been stuck with needles)))

i'm tempted to go into the trash and pull that bag out.

tom says i should leave it there since it's full of blood, fluid, and tissue... he said we could try to buy one from a medical supply place. lol

i bet his mom could get a clean/new one.
