Supper and guests
Sep. 30th, 2003 04:48 pmSo, the WomBAT dinner Sunday night was quite nice.
computerchix and
aliciar arrived at my house around 5pm. We wandered around downtown for a bit, then came back here to grab the baklazhani and strawberries. We picked up Tom (he was at band practice with
nothingoth and
solieri and headed to
red_frog's.
jb98 and
illandaria were taking a break from kitchen duties. Magi is very adept at putting guests to work and making them feel useful. We all chatted for a bit, then had a lovely dinner of flank steak (well, I didn't eat that, but I'm sure it was good), roasted potatoes, asparagus and peppers, baklazhani, and pappadums. There was wine and good chitchat. (I'm not sure
explodingcat talked at all, but
illandaria remembers his voice, so I guess he did. That should help convince
eilonwy that he really *does* exist.)
We had a dessert of strawberries and amaretto whipped cream. Quite yummy.
Around 10, we all set off, stumbling up Magi's back steps of doom. Back at our house, Toni, Al, Tom, and I chatted for a bit, then dragged in bed stuff for the two WomBATs and took ourselves all off to bed. Woke up bright and early (10ish) for coffee, tea, etc, then I mucked about while the others showered (I'd done that the night before because of the cats). Toni, Al, and I walked downtown, where we met up with Magi and Tom. Bashir's was tasty, as usual. The working folks headed back after lunch while the three of us left wandered in and out of shops. I chatted for a bit at Higher Grounds with
mrjustice and
orientallilly, then a bit more with
ez_mo and
babyrapture.
Eventually, my period slammed me on the ass and knocked my head against a wall, so I went home. Toni and Al left for DC around 3pm and had more adventures I'm sure we'll read about later.
It was good to see
computerchix again and good to meet
aliciar (and see pictures of her boys!),
jb98, and
illandaria. It's especially nice to know there are other wombats who live not too far away (Richmond *isn't* all that far...). Seeing
red_frog was just plain awful. I don't know how I manage to do it so often. ;) It's like we live in the same town or something. You'd think we meet regularly for tea...
So... Our next out of town friend will be
indyansel, tomorrow. He's not staying with boy and me, but I'm going to help entertain him to keep him out of Magi's hair while she works.
nothingoth and
xiane have an interesting photo expedition tentatively planned, Dan. Should be fun. :) If you're not into dead building exploration, I'll try to convince Chad to save that for Tim's visit.
I think our next overnight visitor will be
twilight_spirit. Tim, how long will you be here and what do you want to do?

The Plan
As for activities ... I'd love to spend some time just wandering around C-ville and the DT Mall. I'm also trying to time the visit for the height of the fall foliage, so provided the weather cooperates I'd like to do a little hiking with my camera again. And the Dawning, of course. Do you have anything that needs moving while I'm down? ;)
I can't believe I haven't been down since April. I gots to have my fix!
