blast and drat
Aug. 30th, 2003 12:52 pmlast night, i was driving home when the battery light came on. it was just after 8pm, so all the garages were closed. i drove the car home and decided to wake up earlier and either drive it to Finley's or call the tow company.
we took the car to Finley's at 10am. it was packed. only one mechanic on duty (the other guy on duty isn't a mechanic, but can do tires, oil, etc) and he was overwhelmed. i asked if he could look at the car sometime today and he said yeah, but only if i left it. so we left it and set off on foot toward the bus stop, stopping at kroger to get a bottle of water. we had to walk half a mile to get to the bus stop, only to find that it wouldn't be buy for about 50 minutes. i pointed out we could walk to the dry cleaner in less time than that, so we started walking.
fortunately, we had a lot of shade, since we had to go up and down a couple hills. the temp today is in the mid-eighties with a heat index of the mid-nineties.... *humid*
we got to the dry cleaner and i got my blouse/jacket... they forgot to do it, so the guy in charge stayed late to turn on the machines and clean it for me since i need it tomorrow. i got it no charge. i'm impressed that they were able to help me--they'll get more business from me if the stuff they used is unscented.
we walked on to the downtown mall to hit the farmer's market, then came home. i had to pick up another bottle of water because i started getting dizzy and tingly and woozy. been sitting at home for awhile. boy told me over an HOUR ago he was taking a shower, but he *just* got in. i could've been clean, dressed, and packed by now. i don't want to pack while i'm still sweaty. yeah, the sweat dried, but i'm all salty and it could rub off on anything dark I pack.
i walked way too much today, but it felt kinda good until i started getting woozy.
i'll call the garage in a couple hours. if the car's done/okay, i'll go pick it up (begging a ride from any willing friends). if it's not, i'll have to beg a ride to the car rental place.
