i've been stressed to the point of tears over this damn sewing project. had i had a lot longer, completing it wouldn't have been a issue. with the fibro and cfids, i just can't go go go, though.

so i went and looked at dresses again, since the fall/winter line came in over the last few days. nothing fit quite properly... a few things would have been perfect had they actually had a 16 *petite*. no, a regular 16 won't cut it, 16W is like swimming in linen. a 16P *usually* fits me, though. except, of course, the 16P at sears, which seemed to be cut on a regular 16 pattern. grrrr.

it's storming badly here. i won't stay on line.

ANYHOW. i remembered... i have the perfect blouse... and it's iridescent blue! it's fairly dressy. and it's long, but can be worn with a black velvet skirt without upsetting jeff too much. i came home and searched for it and found it in the dry clean bag... the bag for things to be dry cleaned. it got soiled by mice before we moved here and i haven't found a local dry cleaner. well, i'll go to bed at midnight, get up by 9 and call brown's and beg them to have it done in one day (they do have same day service, but they don't say what time).

anyhow. we need to get the hell off these machines.

lovely storm went through. started around 9ish, lights started flickering around 9:30 and the cable went out, so we unplugged things from the wall (gotta love laptops) and the cable. then the storm got very *bright*. tons of lightening... windows shaking, etc. we went out for a bit, but came in because the lightning was very close and our porch has a bit of iron about it. (decorative posts, etc). and there are a lot of trees nearby. with the wind and lightning, it wasn't terribly safe, but it was beautiful.

our cable was knocked out until nearly midnight. i called adelphia at 11. they said it appeared there was a technical issue in the area, but technicians were on site out in the rain, trying to fix whatever it was. i edited some pics and noticed around midnight that the modem was all lit up again.

i hope that outfit will be sufficient. i've had migraine-level headaches for the last two weeks and my jaw is driving me nuts. i'm clenching so hard that the gums under my *front* teeth have been aching. and my shoulders and back are still screaming from cutting out the fabric. i feel horrible for not finishing the other dress, but really... i'm just too damn sick for any of this. it's hard to admit. my daily routine is okay so long as it's not interrupted. i have a *lot* of downtime i spend on the couch or in bed. last night, i went flyering, but today i spent quite a bit of time at home last night and today resting. i keep figuring i could use my downtime productively, forgetting that i *need* to use it for rest.

boy's going to call the drycleaner's--and i hope drop off--the shirt tomorrow morning. i'm going to finish watching a roman holiday and then i'm going to bed.

That outfit will be sufficient because I say so. If he gripes, send him to me.

if he doesn't like it, i'll just offer to strip. ;) that almost always works.

anyhow. this pattern amuses me. (http://www.simplicity.com/assets/5363/5363.jpg) yes, those are the variations on one pattern, one envelope.

It's not actually, that's what so weird about it... I'm making the fairy-esque costume in a spider web fabric, so I bought the actual pattern. There's no nun on the physical envelope, and there's no way to make the nun's habit from the pattern that's inside!

I wrote an entry a few days ago about this pattern- having found it online and been made quite nervous by the wandering nun. But the work computers crashed before I could post it, and I never got around to rewriting it.

On the actual envelope, there's a native american costume instead.

I still think not letting you wear a black dress is the height of insensitivity, especially since you are damn hard to fit. I still say wsear a nice dress you have, no matter the colour and if there are complaints, take it off and be free! *eg*

I still think weddings should have everyone in garb, medieval food and beverages, and a mock bride kidnapping to make sure everyone remembers the event.

had i actually just kidnapped jeff and dragged him around shopping, he'd have caved after the third store or twentieth dress. he'd have realized that with my figure and complexion, there's precious little i *can* wear when it comes to formal attire. this is why i tend to wear two or three piece ensembles. i mean, i don't need to look gorgeous, but i do need to *not* look ill-fitted and glaring, otherwise attention will be pulled from the bride. i mean--gorgeous bride in dress, PTA troll of doom next to her. it's best if there are no catty snickers during one's wedding. ;)

oddly enough, i just got an itch to lay out more, so i've cut some more of the velvet. i can't find the sleeve pattern. not a huge deal, since i already cut out the lining, but i need sleep, so i'm going to bed.

and i don't have a nice dress anymore. i have things in black velvet, but no formal-ish attire. i have ball gown skirts, spiderweb shirts, terrifying striped silk, the old corset, etc... so i couldn't just dig into the closet. my prom dresses and bridesmaid dress are way too small, too. and very little i have is actually *nice* by light of day anymore, since i don't work and can't buy new clothing very often.

You really should've made him go shopping with you and made him watch you try to sew, so he could see how much sicker this 'no black at the wedding' rule is making you.

Feel better. *hug*

Petite dresses and suits fit me best as well--probably 'cause of my lack of any upper body length. Macy's petite suits fit me best--Though I have done Ok with some regular.

Anything with a "W" usually swims on me as well--especially dresses.

I hope you feel better soon.

Weird. We lost power at about 9PM and didn't get it back until (I think) around 1AM.

Glad you've decided to say to hell with it and just wear something.

from a nun to a pirate to a pixie..that's some pattern...

I'm sorry to hear you've had this stress going on in your life, it's kind of hard to find that good routine that works with someone with a chronic pain illnesses level of health, and it's really upsetting to slip out of it and have things go haywire.

If Jeff gives you any lip, give him my number, I'll fill his ears with Irish Diplomacy for you.
