So... I finished The Fourth Hand last night. It's been several years since I read any Irving. Now I need to find something else to read. I'm tempted to read another John Irving book. I have one (A Widow For One Year) that I haven't read, but I'm not sure I'm in the mood for it. It's also a hardcover, which will actually *hurt* to read.

Hrmmm...

Oh. Just went in to see just how big the book was. It's large, even for a hardcover. I think I'll re-read Golden's Memoirs of a Geisha, which I have in softcover. And I was just contemplating re-reading it last night. Yes, this will do. It won't hurt quite so much.

I can't believe I'm judging what I read by how much physical pain the book will cause. *sigh*

I enjoyed A Widow for One Year much more than I enjoyed The Fourth Hand, so I'd recommend it if you can find it in softcover.

A lot of people I know who read TFH didn't like the female characters because they were so stereotyped. What do you think?
