Okay, by the time I got done with it, my recipe might not actually be lumpia, but it's still pretty good.

I follow the wrapper and sauce recipe at that link, substituting fake soy sauce for the soy sauce. I don't bother with the filling recipe, as it's not at all vegetarian.

For the filling... I heated up some oil... tossed in a little chili garlic sauce and some diced onion, let it saute a minute or two or three... added some diced chicken-style seitan... tossed in some cabbage. saw that it was getting a little dry so poured in a bit of fake soy sauce... added a bag of stir fry veggies (I'm too tired to chop up fresh ones) and about a cup of fresh mung sprouts. added some water, covered and moved to a back burner to steam/cook on low. i added some salt at some point, too.

then i made the sauce and started the wrappers.

then we just served ourselves... i place a mound of veggies in one spot, a dollop or three of sauce beside, then mix them bite by bite, eating with the wrap (messy, fun). tom fills his wrapper with veggies and sauce and then folds it over and eats it with a fork.

yum.

you're funny. *giggle*

Until I visit virginia beach this summer, I won't consider any "food product" there to be anything resembling food. ;)

Since I'm vegetarian and allergic to soy, I do *not* go to Asian restaurants, except for sushi places I *trust*. (If we wanna get technical, yeah, I go to Indian restaurants.)

I'll have to find something the in-laws like, too. Likely pizza, italian, and possibly a very nice sit-down place that serves whatever's fresh than day. I can usually call ahead and get an incredibly good veggie/mushroom dish at those places.

I'll be taking my own food, mostly likely. I typically take sfincione toppings and sfincione crusts (pre-made here) with me, since we'll stay in a condo or house and will have a kitchen. Do you know if there are any good whole foods type markets or co-ops in the area? Do I need to bring all my own organic produce, milk, and butter and cheese and eggs and everything, too?
