There's a term used in Australia known as "A three-dog night", meaning one that is very cold. It comes from the practice the Indigenous folk had of using dogs to help stay warm at night.
Something similar happened to a friend of mine's brother. He got lost and was lost for like three days in cold weather and he had the two small dogs with him and cuddled with them to keep warm. Enjoyed reading this hon. hugs Deb
