Apr. 28th, 2003 11:57 pmThe club night we go to,
That said, when M suggested we go to Amelia's party this weekend, I said "Sure!" Amelia's sweet and I like her. It sort of slipped my mind that, since Amelia's a high school student, so are her friends. I had fun, though. It's just rather odd to hear people kvetching about AP chemistry these days. I felt a little out of my element, but I didn't let it bother me too much. I'm not sure too many people there realized I was a decade older than most of the guests. Cory's close to my age, and boy also, of course.
Amelia lives with her family down towards Appamatox. It was about an hour's drive, but we chatted along the way. Rather, boy and Cory (M's boy) sat quietly in front while M and I giggled in the back seat.
We were greeted by a jumpy Australian Cattle Hound? Dog? named Brisbane and some yappy pugs. We saw a bonfire and headed toward it. We sat down and enjoyed the company. Amelia and her family have a lot of pets--one goat, several chickens roosting in the bamboo, three pugs, Brisbane, an aged zombie Whippet, a grey cat, a black cat, and nine Ibizan Hounds (one of which is a wee puppy, but I forgot to take a picture of him). I was in heaven. I got LOTS of doggy love. Amelia's family is also chock full of artists, so there are paintings everywhere, mostly of pets past and present. It's quite nifty.
I was told the pugs resemble their names. Grub is the old one looking at the camera. Gir is wearing the orange collar. Dreidel (who spins a lot) is enjoying M's lollipop,

it was easy for me to remember the names of everything but the ibizans. It was dim when i was introduced to the Ibizans and seven large dogs with similar colors tend to be difficult to tell apart. (The eigth was in back with her puppy.) One, Ru (rue? roux?) likes certain smells, especially perfume. This does not explain why he adored my smell and kept rubbing against me and smelling my hair joyfully. I guess he likes my clean human smell.

uh, yeah. so i took lots of pictures of the dogs. i spent lots of time petting dogs, too. i love dogs. it was nice. there was an Ibizan on acomfy surface everywhere you looked. it was great. Wimpy (the Whippet) sat curled up under a blanket, quietly eager for gentle pets. Ru was eager to leap onto the laser dot or sniff hair or dance. Brisbane was eager for pets. The black kitty liked the laser, too, but didn't like competing with the dogs. The striped kitty avoided us haughtily. The chickens shook the bamboo. It was a good night. ;)
update:
if you looked at this in the 10-20 minutes after i posted, i've added six more pictures.

-Perhaps you had touched a plant that he was smelling? Dogs have a better sense of smell than humans do and any plant is going to have its own unique smell, even if it isn't potent. And I know that you garden and have various plants around, so that could be it. Or whatever it is that you wash your hair with (botanical or otherwise).

-The "every shot" link doesn't work. I get an error message with it.
