boy and i are working in the yard. i'm doing stuff that doesn't require standing, he's mowing. i just crawled around and dug out several tenacious weeds, since they are ones that flower in tall spikes, says the neighbor. she made it sound as though she thought they were mullein, but i know they aren't. i don't know what they are. they have a parnsip-like root and smell vaguely radish-like, so they could be wild parsnip, which also sends out tall stalks with wee flowers. i'm really not sure. [livejournal.com profile] xiane, if you'd like to come see them, feel free. ;)

i'm going to hand-work a small plot to ready it for tomatoes. lots of chickweed, catnip, spearmint, and clover, along with random other plants in this yard. it's lovely groundcover, but i want tomatoes. TOMATOES!

if anyone feels like stopping by to chat, we'll be in the back, come on through the yard. :) we're at 720 elliott, for those who haven't yet visited.

hrm, i think i might ready an area for lupine, foxglove, and other pretties, too.

Sorry, I would have too! But - I was up to much the same thing, except with a garden *weasel* buddee. Whee!

how is El Weasel? boy was muttering "garden weasel" the whole time i had him hoeing and spading.

i have four or five extra moonflower seeds that split (properly) in the water. i stuck them in a damp bag of peat moss, if you'd like them.

we're going to go see if B&N is open. i'll try to call you to see if you'd like to join us.
