the plastic it was wrapped in, possibly, but it was just delivered to the store yesterday and wasn't wrapped in plastic very long before that. and the delivery guys kept the packing materials. the leather itself, very likely (they use a lot of chemicals to tan leather, including potassium dichromate, something i'm allergic to). the chemicals used to inhibit mold growth in the upholstery and wood, definitely. the treated wood used in the frame, yes. any treatments done to the leather, probably (though i did not request any).
we bought leather because dust mites will be less of an issue. and it's easy to clean. unfortunately, the offgassing lasts a little longer.
i've got the windows open (joy, pollen in the air) and the hepa filter running. i think i'm going to go work in another room for awhile.
it's really comfy, though.
ugh. i better go take a handful of naproxen before i end up with a migraine.
