This is what greeted me when I went in to put the potatoes in the potato-kale soup.

My beloved oxalis.

Tom caught me looking over my shoulder at the approaching storm. Fortunately, I managed to pot my tulips before the wind hit. It was an awesome storm--fast, quick, dark with bright lightning. No hail or funnels, but I wouldn't be surprised if some were spawned by that system. Yes, I'm wearing a Terminal Ready shirt. My gauze skirt is pulled between my legs and tucked in my waistband so I can run back and forth fetching pots. ;)

The opossum has a friend besides boy.

Kitchen, south window. Spider plants, oxalis, windowbox with dill and pennyroyal sprouts (on the window side, I had a few cups of morning glories)... On the microwave, morning glory and two covered trays of flower and vegetable seedlings.

Kitchen, west window. Sanseveria, violets, a white oak acorn in the cup by the window, aloe in the two big pots on the right, jade in one, basil plant in a bag. On the floor, an old skillet holding the morning glory seedlings. Most of my cookbooks and cooking magazines have been taken to the new house. There are a few cookbooks, some magazines, and a bunch of printed recipes I need to put in a binder.

This is Major, one of the roaming black labs. I took this pic a couple weeks ago.

[livejournal.com profile] krues8drwill burn in hell for wearing a neubauten shirt tucked into khakis, but I won't tell if you won't.

Pictures of the new place. I particularly like the view on the other side of the backyard fence. And, [livejournal.com profile] ashbet, we have curtains that match your wallpaper.

I made a big pot of baklazhani tonight. It took me about an hour and a half to cut everything up and get the preliminary sauteeing done. I forgot how labor intensive it can be. I don't mind. I enjoy the whole process of skinning tomatoes (score bottom, put in bowl, pour on boiling water, cover, let sit for a bit, then slide skins off and gut tomato, chopping as I go). It's nice and gory. [livejournal.com profile] red_frog, are we still on for dinner? The apricot pirozhki don't take as long to make. What else should I bring? Do you want or need me to go shopping for anything else? Do you want boy to help with the beast-dish?

Right now, I'm eating a big bowl of pesto tortellini topped with tomato, portabello mushroom, and olive sauce. mmmm...

Friendly Information, here...

Your "pot my tulips" and "pictures of the new place" links don't work. Just so you know (and so that you can fix it). :-)

Thanks. :) tulip potting pic is fixed. The house link should just go to the directory (
http://www.explodingcat.com/krasota/house/ ). Does that not work for you? It works for me.

Oh, ok. Yeah, it went to the directory. I thought that it was supposed to go to a specific pic. :)

Awwwww! Such a cute possum.

I hope it's not trying to hump the hedgehog.

Cute little yellow house!

I lived in a little gray house kind of like that, right after Tripp & I moved out of our first apartment.

I covet the knotty pine kitchen.

Saw the other one first. We're still on, you're bringing plenty--thanks!--and boy does not need to help with the Georgian ptereodactyl.

Which reminds me that I should get the ingredients. ;)

That potato creature was awesome. I can't believe you killed it and put it in your soup.

Your new place looks cosy. But the pic labeled "view" is, well, not of a spectacular view, is it? Cows are much better to look at.

I'm going to miss your cow stories.

nice tattie critter...too bad it had to be sacrificed, but at least it was for a good cause.

i love your new knotty pine kitchen...my gram and paw paw's upstairs was totally panelled in hand-cut (by my paw paw) knotty pine...now i feel all sentimental...oh well, it's like gas, it'll pass.

your view is erm...uh...nasty. maybe they'll move...or finish dissolving or something...yuck.

nice possum...i'm sure he'll (she'll?) miss your lil bowls of food when you're gone...maybe the new tenants would like a cat *and* a possum?

i hope that you like your new lil cute yellow house!!

Oh! The storm!

I've nabbed storm2.jpg to use as my desktop background. Is glorious. Thank you.

(You don't happen to have a larger version handy, do you?)

Sadly, no. Boy grabbed the camera, which was set on the lowest quality, which is also the smallest pic size. Had I grabbed it, I'd have changed that. ;)

Is v. pleasant as desktop. Restful.

Across my field the fresh breeze sweeps.
Towering pines at the edges weep,
opening pores to the coming storm.
Billowing clouds blot out the sun---
one quarter left of shining sky,
bright blue, waving its last goodbye,
gobbled up in a maw of gray.
