I'm a big dumb klutz about all this newfangled technology stuff like rss feeds or whatever it's called. I do, however, have non-LJ blogs I read and having them on my friends page would help me.

So, can you easily explain how to do what you did?

It's actually not something that she did. It's something that PraxisLoki (the author's callname) did. Basically using RSS tags (go here for more info) he was able to parse information from his blog into a format that could be aggregated by any number of news-readers. As luck would have it, LiveJournal supports this format as well, so he was able to register with LJ as a syndicated journal, and LJ will check his site for new RSS tags and update his LJ info on their site accordingly.

Neat, non?

Well, technically

I just set up the RSS feed. I never joined LJ, I guess it created a username based on what krassie told them. I also use a tool called Amphetadesk that takes RSS feeds from various sites, then spits out the summaries into a browser window. Pretty cool stuff. Only have to hit one web page in a day, as opposed to twenty. :P -Praxis

I know you didn't join LJ, you buffoon. ;) The "account" is just an RSS feed account, it's not anything you can post with. I had to add the feed to LJ's syndication accounts so that it would be picked up.
