So, our winter storm wasn't nearly as impressive as [livejournal.com profile] ashbet's, but 8+ inches of sleet does add up. Furthermore, it compacts. I mean, we're standing on snow/ice that is compacted to five inches or so with nary a mark to show our path.

Our driveway is still guarded by one snowmonster from last week or so.

The driveway did show our path, but our footprints were no more than half a centimeter deep. I've been claming the locals are pussies for cancelling school tomorrow, since we've had no snow today, there are not ice-laden wires/branches, and the wind isn't blowing. But I guess that stuff doesn't come up off the road too easily. And with neighbors like ours, who try to drive a hundred yards WITHOUT CLEARING OFF THEIR WINDSHIELD, well, the death count may be kept down by keeping people home, though I'm not sure it's so good for the local gene pool. Tom and I stood and laughed warily for a few minutes. Tom apparently grew a tree out of his head.

I really like the blue light outside. All the reflected snow and oblique sunlight filtered through heavy clouds. Water makes pretty pictures. I'm going to miss this willow oak when we move. It drops such nice sticks. Tom seems to want to pee on the minidish. I better hide his boots. And, finally, our happy little bat still guards our front steps.

ooo..send me a good stick...I've been wanting to find one for a wand for my alter, but in Indy couldn't find any I liked, and my favorite tree's are willows and oaks, so....

Snow. Ugh. We have ten inches already and it's coming down like doomsday outside.

well, at least a foot long, less than 2 feet, and hmmm...not sure about thickness...let's say a little over an inch in diameter, or maybe about as thick as your first two fingers of each hand pressed together. (yes I have wierd ass ways of measuring stuff. :)

Hey, if I could send myself a 7 foot piece of ironwood I fished out out of lake superior for a walking staff...:) It's doable, LOL
