Well, chickdees are titmice... but I was still surprised to see the wee chickadee stealing catfood this morning. The jays have been ransacking the dish, too.

I put more millet sprays out for the juncos. They'll eat nyjer seed, too, but they seem to enjoy dragging the sprays around and wrestling each other. So I keep them fat and round and busy.

and no, i'm not asleep. i stayed up to finish Blackwood Farm and decided that I may as well use today to drop-kick my sleep schedule back to something diurnal-ish. I'll stay up today... watch tv tonight, and fall asleep around 10-11, I hope. Sadly, that means I won't hear [livejournal.com profile] xiane's show, though I might have it on softly. Maybe I'll tape it.

sooooo.... today will be one long stretch of trying to keep myself awake. i was tired six hours ago... we'll see how it goes. maybe i'll do some baking.

We have the chestnut-backed chickadee. It sounds like a squeaky toy.

We have a mystery bird that likes our backyard. I say mystery because I haven't actually *seen* it, only heard it's most distinctive call. Stu has dubbed it "the laser bird" because it sounds just like a laser pistol.

Other than that, we get the usual cardinals, jays, chickadees, and mourning doves. They all like the brnches near the window in the computer room, lucky us! :)
