so...

i woke up in the dark this morning. i was still in that tenuous awake/asleep point and there had been vicious, beautiful thunderstorms in my most recent dream. i heard rumblings of thunder. i wasn't sure if i was awake. i decided that i *was* awake and i figured that cd we listen to every night (canyon spirit, john huling) was still playing. as i rolled over to get my glasses to see what time it was, i was blinded by a flash of light.

now, we have closed mini-blinds and heavy denim curtains in the bedroom. for something to be THAT BRIGHT, it had to be super super bright outside. and the thunder accompanying the brightness was 15-20 seconds delayed. so i grabbed my glasses, saw that it was almost 5:30am, and rolled over to wake up boy so he could go unplug his work computer (the laptop was already unplugged).

he wasn't happy, but did the necessary stuff while i wandered about, looking for a good window for a view. it started raining hard, though, and the western windows were quickly obscured by wind-swept raindrops. since the wind was blowing and the heavens were still lighting up dramatically (and the storm was moving closer), i didn't take my naked self out onto the porch full of metal yard implements. sometimes i can be sensible. ;)

i was really hungry, but as the storm swept past, i decided to go back to bed.

Boom!

The wife and I were woken up by that same storm. I had the same impression: The flashes of lightning were so bright I could se them through the blinds and through my eyelids. It was an hour before I had to get up tho, so unfortunately no storm watching for us.
