Oh, for the love of fried spaghetti.
Apr. 5th, 2009 08:39 pmSo . . . we thought we'd have a nice little hike today. We were driving on 20, just leaving town . . . when my steering went. Of course, the Buick had to pick today to throw a serpentine belt. I managed to pull hard and got it to the BP on Monticello/Linden, called our roadside assistance. Since we were planning on an easy hike, we just had the diaper bag, a backpack (with camera), and the Ergo. After we got a time estimate, I strapped a squirmy urchin on my back and set off for downtown. It was an easier walk than I thought, I took the trolley to the Corner and sat down for a much deserved latté.
explodingcat waited for the tow truck driver. I do hope he shares that experience. It was pretty darn noteworthy.
Aside: the buick had a coolant flush earlier this week because boy bought the Jiffy Lube recommendations hook, line, and sinker. That's okay, it needed one. However, when I looked under the hood today, I saw coolant splashed here and there and the reservoir was *quite* low. *sigh*
Anyhow. Tom eventually met me--the driver and his lady friend gave him a ride to the Corner. He had lunch and tea and we eventually walked home--an easy mile or so from that part of town.
Twenty minutes ago, I was working on getting ready to back-up two years' worth of photos (i've always been distracted in the past. I have at least eleven months backed up, but not the rest) when my computer DIED. Just went black. No go. I tried fiddling with the power cable. Nope. I exchanged Tom's iBook battery for my dead one. Nope.
So.
Let's recap.
Monday--my dog is under the weather.
Tuesday--my dog is diagnosed with kidney failure.
Wednesday--my dog is still dying, my toddler presents with an egg allergy
Thursday--I realize we're going to have to put Jericho to sleep
Friday--the Crown Vic breaks down by *not* breaking down. It just won't turn off. Did you know a starter switch that breaks way down inside the column costs over $300 to repair?
--I held my dog as the vet adminstered a lethal injection
Saturday--not too bad, all things considered, just weepy. I got glutened, but intestinal upset is really minor in the greater scheme of things.
Sunday--my OTHER car dies. my laptop dies.
