Saw my doc today. He poked and prodded me (did I mention that the ER docs did *not* do a physical exam beyond listening to me breathe twice?) and hrmphed a bit. My gallbladder, kidneys, and liver are *not* tender in any way, shape, or form. He ordered x-rays to rule out pneumonia and a slipped disc. He thinks that it's probably a combination of muscle spasm + pinched/irritated nerve.

Gave me scripts for accolate (i'm out) and zanaflex (Hale lists it as L4. It's never helped me in the past. I don't think I'll fill it now) and sent me on my way. He's calling in an appointment for a gastroenterologist because I want to get this reflux investigated. 5.5 years of GERD has surely done something horrid, given that it's barely controlled on PPIs, which I don't want to take forever.

I took a painkiller (hadn't taken it so that I could describe pain accurately to doc), got my xrays (needed the painkiller in order to breathe deeply for the lung xrays), and then wandered around campus with Ronan in the stroller (no car for me today). Said hello to [livejournal.com profile] mustelidmania, got coffee, walked to Special Collections, enjoyed some exhibits, walked home.

In retrospect, I probably shouldn't have walked home. Oh, well. Ronan needed to be out and about and the stroller is easier than carrying him through the house on an endless round of pacing.

Did I mention that this pain keeps me from SNEEZING? It also stifles my yawns. Aren't those reflexive? How can pain cut short those? It can't cut short my hiccups, though, which I'm having frequently. And painfully.
