still here

We forgot to buy my book last night, so I'm stealing boy's workstation again. Still not really reading LJ (not even skimming). I occasionally browse, but I don't necessarily read back more than a page or log in.

Anyhow, the NWS says we've got 100% chance of snow tomorrow. This would be the first winter precipitation since the didn't-do-jack ice pellets that fell for 30 seconds around Thanksgiving. (Well, they did a lot of jack up in the mountains--Skyline Drive is still closed.)

Anyhow, I'm excited, but I'm also cursing myself for forgetting to buy buttermilk. If anyone else read the news, they'll be slamming the stores. Oh, well, off I go.

Doot de doo. La la la.
I made a great gluten-free Irish soda bread tonight.

I used this recipe. My flour blend is brown rice, sweet white sorghum, teff, and tapioca. I used a mixture of sultanas and thompson's raisins, soaked them in warm cognac for a few minutes to plump them up.

It's really, really good. We've been eating it spread with butter all evening. [livejournal.com profile] thekdog came over for corned beef & cabbage and we chatted over the food for a couple hours. It was awesome.

I'll share pictures of the bread sometime in a couple weeks. With my laptop out of commission, I'm not downloading/resizing photos.
So . . . I've been reading a book on the Bradley method. It appeals to my sensibilities. And I was just trying out some of the exercises mentioned. One of them is a squat. As I'm doing the squat, boy goes into the crane pose and informs me that this is the proper birthing position.

You know, he was pretty obnoxious before, constantly going into this pose just to prove that he can do it. Now he just looks at me, grins, and squats down and pushes himself up and tells me I must practice with him.

I don't think so.
