Today is apple picking day. I don't know that I'll pick many. I really just want apple cider . . . and pretty views.

I save the bulk of my apple madness for the heirloom apples sold down at Rural Ridge. I go down there for the festival in November. Great old varieties, amazing unpasteurized cider.

Today, though, Carter's Mountain will suffice.
I spent a lovely afternoon with [livejournal.com profile] aleiphein. We went up to Carter's Mountain orchard and bought apples and cider (she bought cider doughnuts, too) and then we sat on the porch and enjoyed the gorgeous day.

Back at Christen's house, we set up her canopy. She's planning on vending her wares at a craft fair before too long. I also got to chat with [livejournal.com profile] nothingoth, [livejournal.com profile] solieri, and Morgan. It was a lovely day. I came home, tossed a blankie in the yard, and enjoyed the sun some more.

It's been sunny, breezy, and in the mid-60s today--perfect autumn weather. I'm very envious of those of you receiving snow. We *might* get a light frost tonight. I need to go pull in my plants and harvest the rest of my tender herbs. I think I'll make some pesto. I might have to go buy more pine nuts before I do that.

[livejournal.com profile] ez_mo and I had picnic-in-the-mountains plans for tomorrow. I need to see if she's still up for that. I haven't heard from her all week--I think her tinfoil hat blocks my emails.
Would anyone local like some lemon verbena? If the temp drops below 40F tonight, it'll die back. I've got probably one to two cups of it fresh. I can't actually use it--I just grow it for the occasional strawberry-verbena lemonade batch. I can trim it now and we can arrange delivery.

I also have some variegated and white sage, though I'll probably use most of it myself. I don't mind sharing a little. I also have some oregano, but that's pretty hardy and should survive the first few frosts.

Also, if anyone (local or not) wants some Bright Lights Cosmos seeds (organic), let me know. They're very pretty, very wild, very prolific with the seed-dropping. I don't mind mailing out a few packets this year.
