rootofnewt: (car)
It is most definitely too hot to clean out the car today.

Oh, well, it's done now.

Must finish:
cleaning kitchen (just need to take out veg trimmings and clean a few dishes)
laundry
packing a few days' worth of food and clothing
pack road food (baked potato fixings in the cooler, popcorn, snacks)

Since I'm all hot and sweaty and gross, I'm going to go check the oil and fluids in the car. After I do that, I might just go buy some celery because I've got a mad craving for it and it's good road food.

I should also get in touch with my parents to make sure they're still expecting us and to find out whether we need to bring an air mattress or tent. I hope we don't need a tent, central Indiana is supposed to get nasty storms off and on for the next few days (it's August, after all). I also need to see if my grandparents are coming down. And I have Nate's shorts--[livejournal.com profile] absinthea, I can give them to Grandma if she'll see your mom before my mom does.

I wouldn't mind a good hard rainstorm right around dinner. I'd like to clean off the deck and I need rain in order to get out there.
The car is clean. Granted, the exterior isn't washed and with the weather forecasts I've read, I don't see the point.

I remembered to put the 06 license plate stickers on . . . only two months late. Ah, well, the registration is paid up to date and that's what really matters.

Most of the dishes are done, except for the big pan from last night's potato flatbread fiasco. The oil is drained from it, however, and the pan itself is soaking. I need to skim the oil out or freeze it so that I can throw it away. I let it sit out overnight, so I really don't want to re-use it.

We're having easy Indian for supper--brown basmati rice, canned baignan bharta. I might toss in some lentils. There will be reheated chicken, too. I bet I'll sneak some pappadums onto my plate.

I need to freeze the chicken that isn't eaten today since it won't last four days in the fridge. Or I could just whip up some chicken soup to put in thermoses and take on the road tomorrow. I doubt I'll do that--hot soup + hot weather + roadtrip = uneaten soup.

I'd like to wish a very happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] jkatj. May this year be wonderful and lovely and full of yummy stuff!

Okay, time to transfer more laundry, eat dinner, and get stuff in order so that we can go visit [livejournal.com profile] mbickers this evening.
