So, yes, we did hike down to White Rock Falls with [livejournal.com profile] nannar. It's one of my favorites. I love the round gorge, the narrow cascade of the main fall, the curtain that drips or sprays right beside the pool, and little falls below this cascade. The water flowing beside moss covered rocks leaves me quite content. It's all so gorgeous.

It's a quiet place to sit and read or take pictures of one's wife's boobs. (Yes, I'm wearing the Rivet Goth shirt made by [livejournal.com profile] originalcynic. I bought it for the high levels of irony expressed when I wear it--normally with a pouffy crinoline and stripey tights and ribbons in my hair.) This tree appears to have eaten a snake. [livejournal.com profile] explodingcat pointed out the "rather large pebbles stuck under those boulders".

Water in the Blue Ridge generally isn't safe to drink, as it's been polluted by old (and abandoned) mining and farm operations. Oil is a big problem. This stream wasn't visibly oily, but I only use the water to wash my face and arms. I figure that the water's safe enough to swim in, so it's probably better for my skin than my own sweat, which gives me chemical burns.

no wonder chris and i were overly warm... and we were in summer attire. we're not ready for these kinds of temperatures. it's not right! it's unnatural! it's april, it's supposed to be gradually getting warm, with breezes to make us shiver.

87F in april? *dies*

i might have to relent and turn on the AC, though i don't really want to. boy is sick. :(

Doors open for the EN show at 9pm on Friday. I'll be there to get in line around 7:30. It's necessary for me to get a seat and getting there early is the only way to guarantee I can grab one. The absolute latest we would leave would be 3:30 and that's pushing it, since we'd be stuck in rush hour.

We have shopping to do in the DC area that afternoon, plus we have to eat dinner. Ideally, I'd like to leave around 1:30 to get all that stuff in. We might be visiting boy's employer that day. If so, we'll leave earlier. The best scenario is leaving around 11:30am, driving to Falls Church, dropping boy off at the office, running around and shopping for three hours, picking boy up (hopefully *not* out in Falls Church), having dinner in DC somewhere, and going to the club. I must go to Katz and I'm hoping that they'll have some passover chocolate left. I just haven't been able to make the drive and I need a few bags of chocolate chips and some chocolate-covered coffee beans and some bittersweet chocolate bars. Katz is in Rockville. I know there's something I need at Trader Joe's, but I can't remember what.

If anyone wants to come along on all of our errands, that's fine, just let us know.

I'm listening to [livejournal.com profile] subshock on . YAY!
