the interesting thing about going to bed with boy is waking up early.

i need to talk to my doctor about sleep. without the melatonin, i'm breathing a bit better, but i'm waking up throughout the night and tossing and turning a lot. i wake up in significantly more pain and am much more weary. this isn't a good thing.

anyhow... the cloudy and rainy again, which means no looking at sunspots (I've been watching them for several days). i need to buy eggs, bagels, and my asthma meds today. we'll see what else turns up. i could roast the pumpkin seeds from yesterday's jack o'lantern...

These are pics from Friday night, when jb98 and illandaria came to town to see lcohen and the local 'bats. ;)

The shapka came out... and landed on Shannon's head... I like the way Nikita is glancing behind as if to say, "what are y'all laughing at?"

The shapka then leapt a few feet and affixed itself to boy's scalp, where it compelled him to dance.

Satisfied with its results, it attempted to eat jb's brain. She seemed mostly immune, so the hat moved on to Lisa. Lisa seemed to be overcome with sultry emotion as she slowly teased us all with a bared shoulder.

The hat moved on to Austin, which is when we discovered that one need not wear the hat to be affected.

I'll go ahead and put the inevitable comments here:

legwarmers and bright colors

i like my polarfleece legwarmers. i've decided, however, that i need a brighter sweater to wear with them...

the problem? the legwarmers have bright colors, while my sweaters are all black or grey.

looking at them, i see four options: orange, red, green (bright green), blue. now... i don't wear red near my face. i'm not sure orange would be wise, either. bright green... um... i don't know if i can pull that off or not. blue, sure... i always think i can pull off bright blue, but when i put it on, it seems that i suddenly become highly visible. i don't know why that bothers me. i'm *always* highly visible in that wears-a-pointy-hat-dresses-all-in-black way. something about not wearing black or very dark blue on my torso creeps me out. i've let myself hide in it for a long time.

i really want to get a bright sweater, though. that way when i wear the outfit i'm wearing today (legwarmers, black tights, black velvet skirt), i have something that doesn't clash on top. the black sweater i have on today is much dimmer than the shiny black velvet skirt. matching blacks can be such a bitch sometimes.

i thought about wearing a lime/stripey tank under an off-the-shoulder black sweater (i'm wearing lime socks), but it appears i no longer have any off-the-shoulder black sweaters. maybe i should go raid xiane's closet...

okay. i think it's time for me to go out to the grocery store. kids will be getting out of school soon and i'd rather avoid the parent-kid rush.

i've got the sewing itch again.

someone tell me it'll go away. say something like, "for the love of god, you've just gotten the house reasonably straightened up, don't start another project that will cover the house in scraps of fabric and bits of thread and then lay unfinished for weeks! besides, why do you need a polarfleece skirt? are you turning into SportyGoth? and yes, you and your friends want hunter orange vests with big biohazard signs on the back--but are you really going to go hiking before march? do you really need high-visibility sportswear?"
