there are few things worse than going to bed with a headache.

waking up with the same headache several times during the night is one.

having the headache worsen in the morning is definitely another.

being out of naproxen is certainly up there, too.

realizing that the headache is starting to push toward migraine territory is just about unbearable.
[livejournal.com profile] explodingcat left for CVS. he's going to try to pick up his Singulair prescription and also get my naproxen.

i found some darvocet, so that will help. part of this headache is neck tension, part is jaw, and part is sinus, so i also took some pseudoephedrine. and i have a bottle of coke, so the caffeine will help a little, too.

of course, i'm starting my period, so coke is *not* a good thing, but i'll survive. the cramps are starting to rumble, so i'll be doubly thankful for the naproxen.

in other news, i'm really ticked off at the insurance company. last thursday, boy went to the doctor to talk about his blood sugar issues, his fatigue, and to ask for a leukotreine inhibitor (asthma med type--he's severely allergic to dogs and my parents have two). The doc took tests, talked about what boy's doing activity-wise, and gave him a Singulair prescription. Boy tried to pick up his 'script on Friday. no go. The insurance company is now (as of two weeks ago) requiring a pre-auth for this type of asthma med. AFAIK, we had no warning. Since it was Friday, MAMSI said it would take *three days* to approve. The doc and boy *both* called to try to expedite things, as Singulair works best after it's been in one's system for at least a few days.

I'm just livid that an insurance company would do this to an ASTHMA medication. I'm on another leukotreine inhibitor and I received no letter about anything of this sort, which would be the norm. I'll have to make sure to remember to try to refill it a week ahead, to prevent being off of it at all.
no prescription. grrrr...

the insurance company told boy that they count on doctors having free samples to hold folks through the pre-auth... that's insane.

our doc didn't have samples on Thursday. he got them some on Saturday, but we had the garage sale going *and* boy was too tired to drive.
yesterday at the little gourmet convenience store in Nellysford, I scored a bar of Valor Milk Chocolate. 38% cacao, with cocoa nibs. It's soy-free, obviously, else I'd not have bought it.

It is SO GOOD.

Whole Foods has been out of their organic imported from switzerland soy-free chocolate, so I've been suffering without a chocolate fix. Yes, I have chocolate chips in the freezer, yes I have chocolate ice cream, but that's not the same as a bar of milk chocolate.

this isn't overly sweet, either. it's very high quality for an inexpensive bar ($1.69 for 2.6oz/75g)

the darvocet and naproxen are kicking in. darvocet isn't much good for fibro, but it still helps joint pain, which is handy...

speaking of chocolate, who would like to come over and make chocolate chip cookies with me today? i need to wash dishes, but i also need cookies.
i'm thinking that *now* would be a good time to go get the car washed and vacuumed.

OR, i could do the damn dishes right now.

car now, before traffic. dishes later, before Magi.

shower sometime between...

EDIT:
raining, so no car wash. i, however, had a shower. woohoo! cleanliness.

now i can do dishes... after i rest from my shower.

i think this is interesting... thought i'd share.
ugh. i hate cramps.

the dishes are done, mostly. a couple things ned to keep soaking.

i'd be very happy if boy would straighten up the living room area. i'd help, but i can't do it alone.
