Yeah, so... plans for today.

none right now... it's hot and humid outside. i deadheaded the nasturtiums and admired the lobelia... then came inside.

thinking about food, but i'm not inclined to prepare much.

we need to decide which fireworks show to see tonight... cville or scottsville.

if anyone would like to come visit, just call ahead. i need a shower and i'd like to clean a bit first. we have AC, though, so it's nice and cool inside.

maybe i should go buy some cider before the grocery stores close...
okay... CD player removed, stuff removed... trunk floor carpet removed, hosed THOROUGHLY, scrubbed, hosed some more, left out on fence to dry (back yard, front yard is too shady). ditto for driver's side floormat, which lives in trunk and got a bit of milk on it. underpadding, spare tire well cover, side mats--scrubbed, dried.

hose pulled mostly back around back.

polarfleece sleeping bags which live in trunk--washed, now in dryer. shower curtain--in washer, soon to be dried. shower curtain and mat--need to be washed in bleach, hung to dry

stuff from car trunk all in front yard--should be sorted. non-car stuff brought inside, trunk stuff put on porch to wait for carpet to dry.

face and arms a mass of stinging flesh because having chemical reaction to own sweat--in progress, though hosed off frequently.

boy is doing dishes (some meaty ones in there, so his job). then, i think we'll stake the tomatoes of doom.

hosed down some porch furniture, suppose should go wipe it down.

need to transplant basil and thyme to pots.

need to clean bathroom, do more laundry.

laundry laundry laundry

need to brush living room carpet, get up all the lint and hair.

clean off dining room table

wash some sheets
so... i sorted trash from non-trash and moved the stuff in the yard onto the porch. then i went to buy gin and enchilada fixins (i just needed cheese and sauce-stuffs) and more tonic water.

came home and boy wanted to stake out the tomatoes. it was sprinkling, though it stopped by the time we got out in the yard... so the mosquitoes feasted on us. boy pounded rebar in while i cut away the too-small chickenwire cages. then we fitted the PVC pipes and joints together and slipped them over the rebar. he got two wooden stakes from the shed and pounded those in beside the two plants the PVC didn't reach. i only uncaged four plants--left the four in the middle caged until I can tie off string and hose supports. i tied up the four on the end, though, so they're all happy and none of them are on the ground (the wind/rain had knocked a couple over). i also took the opportunity to pull off any unhappy leaves.

i came in, stripped on the sunporch (boy hates it when i do that), and headed straight to the shower. i don't think my hands will ever look clean. i didn't wear gloves and when you have dry skin... the dirt gets in EVERY crack and crevice.

boy's out of the shower, so i put another load of laundry in. mostly clothing i've worn outside this week + some undies.

now i'm taking a rest break. i did too much outside. so i'm reading a little, drinking ¡Manzana!, and thinking about what i'll do next. maybe sort some laundry, maybe brush the living room floor.

or maybe i'll make a gin & tonic.

¡Manzana! )
making enchiladas. actually, i made them--they're in the oven now. enchilada sauce (i'm lazy), corn tortillas, cheddar, and i made a filling of black beans, onions, garlic, yellow bell pepper, sweet corn, chili pepper, and summer squash. the filling alone is yummy. mmm, succotash...

i need to go put another load of wash in.

tonight--fireworks!
I just handed boy my gin & tonic. He tasted it.
me: you like it?
boy: *face*
me: too much lime juice?
boy: too much SOMETHING.
me: gin?
boy: it tastes like a lime's ass.

he started laughing, as did i, though i flipped him off as i left the room.

time to put on clothing (rather, underwear or something) and go see the fireworks.

the charlottesville fireworks were pretty neat, despite the last minute organization/funding (the city cut the funding this year, so a few citizens and businesses scrambled together to put on the show, AFAIK). We picked up [livejournal.com profile] mrjustice just before nine, drove around a bit, then we parked in front of [livejournal.com profile] red_frog's house. I don't think she was home, otherwise, we'd have offered to drag her down. we walked over to McIntyre park, up the hill, and spread our blanket.

the show was purty neat. the timing was a little off at times, but i don't really care about that. we talked about how the displays we saw as kids rarely featured multicolored single rockets. and i really only remember red, green, white, and gold fireworks, though my memory could be off. i certainly don't remember purple and pink and not many blues. i think it's odd that technology could have spread/improved that quickly, seeing as how fireworks have been around thousands of years. still, it's neat.

we dropped randy off downtown, then came home. i mixed myself another drink, which tom is not going to taste, since he fails to appreciate them. ;) i'm kind of sleepy. i might go to bed earlier than i'd planned. we'll see.
