happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] computerchix, because it *is* your birthday in my time zone. ;)

"I enjoy the Geminids because they come from the Twilight Zone"

the black polarfleece i bought on black friday is in the washer. when it's done, i'll make a hat. depending on who it fits, i'll scale the pattern up or down and make another. i have a very compact skull. boy's is frickin' huge.

i'm starting on holiday cards. this is a pain. i had to quit my plans for nanowrimo because typing the first 12000 words made my carpal tunnel flare majorly. driving, typing, using the remote... sleeping (i sleep with my hands under the pillow)... all became a huge hassle. my wrists aren't quite pleased with me yet, though i've been trying to keep my typing down to little blurbs... they're probably pissed about all the dishes i did a couple nights ago. i think i might have to forgo little messages and just sign them, then let boy address them. if i ask him to do both, he won't bother at all.

boy's making some frangelico-pecan sauced catfish. it doesn't smell too skanky, so i might be able to manage to make myself some dinner tonight. if not, well, there's always leftover potato leek soup.

went into town for my extendryl 'script. we turned in the "josie and the pussycats" dvd and picked up a couple more, just in case we actually get wintry weather tomorrow. turns out that they have a "rent a new release dvd on monday, get a free category dvd"... so we picked up "queen of the damned" for me to watch when boy is in bed, and "billy madison", because boy's best friend highly recommended it.

the quality of the movies we rent has gone downhill since boy got sick. he can't handle scary or exciting or violent or super sad films. so we're reduced to silly comedies and adam sandler or jack black films, which i can deal with, usually. before he got sick, he refused to rent josie, which pissed me off b/c i knew he'd enjoy it. hey--he liked "spice world" (we forced him to see that, too). mind you, i watched the pussycats in the theater (preview, free passes) with kenn, but down here i have yet to find a silly chick flick movie partner.

tom really liked the film. and he even watched the director commentary last night.

oddly enough, he can handle coen brothers films. we watched "the big lebowski" over turkey weekend.

anyhow, i know that QotD got horrid reviews, but i want to see it, anyhow. and he'll enjoy his adam sandler fix.

la la la

time to go make faces at his dinner
