i'm in new jersey.

the buick's AC compressor went kaput about half an hour north of charlottesville on wednesday.

*sigh*

this is something that must be repaired before driving back to virginia.

i want it repaired. driving 3+ hours on two 100-degree days with high humidity is a circle of hell i don't wish to re-experience.

but damn...

the compressor is an expensive part.

and the garages i've called so far are closed or booked through next week.

my in-laws are at the beach. we found the keys to dad's car, so we can drop our car off somewhere IF we can find a garage which will take it.

i think i'll write about the king show and the joy of seeing friends some other time. right now i'm too upset to be happy.

1. Where are you right now?
i'm in the guest room of my in-laws' home in mount laurel, NJ. the walls are white, the carpet is pale grey, and i'm barefoot. i'm still surprised i'm not leaving footprints.

2. What have you lost recently?
about 18 pounds, but i thought i'd *gained* weight.

3. What was the first CD you ever purchased?
well, my parents gave me Weird Al's bad hair day and a 60's protest music album when they gave me my first cd player. the first CD i bought? i have no clue... maybe Alternative NRG, another compilation. maybe the crow soundtrack. actually, it probably was the crow soundtrack because i remember buying it instead of pizza. NRG i bought without even worrying about a budget, so i probably had a summer job by then. the crow came out at the end of the school year, during may term, so i would've been on a tight budget.

4. What is your favorite kind of writing pen?
rollerball, black ink, ultrafine tip

5. What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
when it comes to buying it in the store, i'm very fond of breyer's vanilla bean, but i also like chocolate. mint choccy chip, and strawberry. i really love Morocco--a flavor made by Max of Max's Best Ice Cream in DC... nutmeg, cinnamon, clove flavored vanilla ice cream.... very good with pumpkin ice cream. if i went into max's in october and he had pumpkin, but no morocco or cinnamon, the sight of my crestfallen face would prompt him to promise a batch of morocco or cinnamon ice cream the following day. max is the BEST! i really miss living a few blocks from his shop.
