Dec. 13th, 2001 05:30 pmFor the last few hours, I've limped about, wondering why my foot hurt worse than usual. Since I do have a rather high pain tolerance (no meds for fibro and the pain is worse than broken bone pain), I've just kept cleaning. Finally, as I was brushing some lint off my feet, I noticed some dried blood.
I have a neat little chunk of flesh missing below a flap of skin.
That explains the pain. It's very near the point of my recent intense foot pain, so I can see why I disregarded any twinges.
So I sat down to make sure there weren't any shards or splinters of glass or wood wedged in there.
YEOWCH. I may not have a lot of surface feeling, but below the skin, the nerves are quite angry.
It's now clean and I'm waiting for the neosporin+ to kick in (mmm, pain relief). I slapped a 3M tattoo bandage over it since I still have to take a shower.
Shower. This might post a problem. I've been avoiding the shower except for brief spray and run attacks. The room it's in in closed off and has the fan running. Bleach just isn't good for MCS folk. It's not good for mold and mildew, either, both of which have been wreaking havoc with my tile and my allergies. So my shower is nearly sparkling again.
But I hope the solution will be sufficiently dilute when I jump in there in a few minutes. My bandaid should hold up well. Otherwise I'll be screaming more than usual (I'm frequently scalded since the building's water system sucks).
Oh, well. This bandage type survived a day of the BEACH. Yes, sand, bodysurfing, shells, rocks, cement, boardwalk, bathing... In fact, it was damn hard to peel off--I had to resort to oil.
Maybe I'll just use the freshly clean bathtub, which has not seen the bleach today.
