baking soda is truly wonderful

do not take a pan, add a small amount of oil and three kernels of popcorn, cover it with a lid, place it over a medium flame, and then go tuck one's lover into bed. If one DOES do this, do not run back to the kitchen and lift the lid of said pot to see what the damage is.
it may not take that long to tuck a monkey into bed, but the end result can very well be a nasty little grease fire with flames too high to drop the lid over.

now, if only the smoke would settle so i could go attempt another pot of popcorn.
