Aug. 30th, 2001

afternoons were made for sleeping. I'm fairly certain mornings don't actually exist, though I was subjected to one yesterday. Okay, I subjected myself.

I volunteered to help staff the GLBTA resource center table at my alma mater. This is the first week of classes. So I dragged myself out of bed at 8am yesterday (fortunately, I fell asleep at 10:30pm the night before) and headed into town.

Tabling was great. I took a change of clothing so I could escape the ravages of the sun. This greatly amused the guys who were sitting at the table with me. I went into the student center clad in stripey tights, miles of black lace, and pouffy crinoline. I exited wearing black short shorts and a green tshirt. Several of my old college buddies--younger and older--happened to stop by. I even saw some old co-workers. It was nice to see everyone and it was nice to sit in the sun!

At 1pm, I suddenly remembered my ride was arriving, so I ran over to the pickup point. He wasn't there yet (often late), so I ducked inside and changed back into my real clothing. Then I casually strolled outside, saw no sign of my ride, and walked across the tunnel to fetch myself a cup of Haagen-Dasz. Yum.

He arrived shortly thereafter and we went to Potomac Mills--one of those huge mile-long malls. I bought tons of Hallowe'en stuff from TJ Maxx. Kenn dragged me out before I could buy more. I got several dishtowels, a matching potholder and mitt, and a set of black bat-shaped coasters. We then went to the food court, where I got a monstrous tostada from Taco Bell (that TB is one of the BEST!) and he enjoyed some frightening concoction from Frank'N'Stein.

Kenn found his Hush Puppies--replacing his 3-year old pair. We wandered around and then went back to the car, stopping at Ikea, where I bought magazine holders, a shower curtain which resembles duct tape, a skillet (we use their cheapo skillet for omelets, replacing it when it gets scratched), and ribbon. Kenn picked up tea lights, candles, and some stuff which escapes my memory. Oh! He also scored a GORGEOUS blue velvet shirt at Duffy's.

I didn't find ankle boots. Mine are worn out and missing a speed hook. I'll have to keep looking.

We came home and I collapsed on the couch for a couple minutes. Then the guys clamored for dinner, so I put some mochi in the oven. Meanwhile, they went to the post office. I stuck pizza dough fixings in the bread machine and hit start. When the mochi were done, I stuck some tater tots in the oven. This mollified the guys quite a bit, so they didn't complain about waiting another hour for pizza.

It was yummy, but homemade pizza always is.

I was dead tired, but felt sick, so I didn't go to bed til 2am. I have a feeling I felt sick for being awake so long (norm is 12 hours), so being up didn't help it at all. I did fall asleep, though, so all was good.

I'm exhausted today, but there are errands I need to run. A friend of mine called and offered to drag me on her errands. Her offers are always so timely. :) I like spending time with her and her daughter *and* we get our stuff done. Sure, time runs away with us, but that's okay. It's spent in good company.

Thanks to everyone who wrote about my great aunt. I appreciate your thoughts and hugs. :)

Well, I just brushed my teeth, but I think I need to eat before heading out. Food is good, it keeps me from going *poof*.
my little brother is rather homophobic.

we fight a lot when we're together.

somehow, i don't think we'd fight as much if we were drinking together.

unfortunately, i only have that picture... no story.

i'm wondering whether i want the story.
