You have a turntable! You are using it!

I think that The Roches is on my turntable.

of course i have a turntable. it's hard to get vinyl to fit in the cd changer. the 5-disk changer MIGHT have room, but i doubt it would work very well.

we have two turntables. mine wasn't working. i didn't want to take it apart to replace the fuse AGAIN, so i let it gather dust. while visiting my in-laws and clearing hubby's stuff out of their house (they sold that house and moved into a new one, sans 20 years of stuff), i found another turntable in the attic. a nice one. big, heavy, happy. intact stylus. so i brought it home. realized it needed new belts (oh, 30-40 years of neglect might do that to one). then i plugged my old turntable in to see if the problem was really a fuse.

and it worked.

now the old turntable is gathering dust til i fix it and plug it into another stereo.

happy. :) i can listen to the damned and the smiths and siouxsie and the muppets again!

"meow!"

My turntable is upstairs, where I usually don't go. I am trying to figure out how to get the vinyl into a digital format.

i married a cat person.

i think i know how to get vinyl into digital format... it involves various cables and a recording device on the computer. (record and convert, basically).

boy would know how to do it. i can't ask him HOW to do it directly because he'll get scared and say "i don't know." if i ask him to do it himself, he'll just do it.

i love him, even if he (http://www.livejournal.com/users/explodingcat) is a cat-person.

Yes, I know cables are involved.
I couldn't get my turntable to plug into the new
combo-stereo I bought. So much for cutting down on
the amount of space the stereo takes up; now I have
two stereos upstairs, one for CDs and tapes,
the other for vinyl. In order to get the vinyl
into digital I would have to figure out how to
plug the turntable's amplifier into the computer.
the hardest part would probably be finding a place
to put all the equipment near the computer.
