we met a very friendly cedar waxwing while watching the sun set over a lovely crest from 20-minute cliffs. the bird was incredibly friendly. i was surprised at how fearless it was.

there was also a very small, but noisy, colony of black crowned night herons. i didn't expect to see them that far inland... dc has 'em around the bird house at the zoo.

and i've dubbed them monkeybirds.

bah. have headache. can't sleep like this.

hey, it wasn't me, I'm a wise heron...so there. :) bet they were cool to see though....we only occasionally get a glimpse of a blue heron around here.
