tonight i was down by the river (only saw one frog, but made VERY good friends with a red mini dachshound) and a mosquito bit me before i could get away.

it itched and burned horribly. only my second skeeter encounter this summer (the other involving xiane's backyard of doom)... well, the bite is now swollen, hard, and about the size (diameter) of a dollar or half-dollar coin.

and my arm aches.

how odd. i forgot to take my morning antihistamine, so i just took one now. hopefully that will quell the reaction.

i've had skeeter bites swell up to huge (3-5") wheals before, but only in indiana during certain summers (tiger mosquitoes, 1997, 1996, 1991). never out east. and i've had tiger skeeter bites this year which didn't swell, but only a few and those were in xiane's yard, not down by the river.

and i didn't notice that the okra i bought this week was spiny. so i have a burny, itchy rash on my hands from the spines. *sigh*

eewww, tiger mosquitos are just awful! if it weren't for the drought, our back yard would be full of 'em. they've completely invaded the area around the creek back there. & i swell up horribly from them too.
